CBBC Student Travel Awards

Each semester, CBBC will have some funds available to help CBBC graduate students attend meetings and conferences related to brain, behavior, and cognition research. These funds can be used to pay for registration fees or to offset travel costs for conferences where the student has an accepted co-authored presentation (accepted abstract of a poster or spoken paper).

To apply, submit the details of the meeting you intend to travel to along with an abstract. Please indicate whether the abstract has been accepted or is pending and note whether you are giving a poster or a talk.

Send these with a breakdown of the proposed budget (travel costs, registration fee, accommodation, other expenses etc.) to Dr. Victoria Braithwaite ( or Dr. Ping Li (

The travel awards will be made on a competitive basis, and the amount of awards will depend on the type of meeting to be attended and the costs incurred. Please note that active participation in CBBC events by the applicant and/or the applicant’s faculty advisor is a criterion for consideration of award.

At the end of the conference travel, the student must provide a one-page summary in which details of the conference are given (e.g., title, location, time, and more importantly, how attendance of the conference has benefitted the student’s research and career), along with a summary of the budget expenses. Students are also encouraged to present their work at CBBC Seminars either in preparation for or after the conference presentations.

The deadline for submission of CBBC Student Travel Awards is Oct. 31, 2016.
